Chai Charm Bliss Balls: an ojas-building Ayurvedic treat

Chai Charm Bliss Balls: an ojas-building Ayurvedic treat

May 14, 2025

In Ayurveda, the quality of our health is deeply rooted in the vitality of our ojas—the body’s essence of immunity, resilience, and deep nourishment. When ojas is strong, we feel grounded, radiant, and full of life. When it is depleted, we may feel fatigued, anxious, and more susceptible to illness. That’s why we created this bliss ball recipe using our Vital Ojas Chai Charm Ghee—to offer a nourishing, balancing treat that not only satisfies sweet cravings but also strengthens your deepest reserves.

What is Ojas?

Ojas is considered the vital sap of life—the end product of proper digestion, good nutrition, and a peaceful mind. It is said to be the most refined by-product of digestion, supporting immunity, mental clarity, fertility, and overall vitality. Certain foods, herbs, and practices are known in Ayurveda to help build ojas, especially those that are warm, unctuous (oily), gently spiced, and naturally sweet.

This bliss ball recipe is a beautiful expression of all those qualities.

Chai Charm Bliss Balls Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Vital Ojas Chai Charm Ghee

  • 1 cup soft Medjool dates, pitted

  • ¾ cup almond flour (or a mix of ½ cup almond + ¼ cup oat flour for extra fibre)

  • Optional: a pinch of mineral salt or a sprinkle of shredded coconut/rose powder/ sesame seeds for rolling

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, blend the dates until a sticky paste forms.

  2. Add the Chai Charm Ghee and flour(s), and pulse until a dough-like consistency forms. Adjust flour quantity slightly if needed.

  3. Roll the mixture into small bliss balls using your hands.

  4. Optional: Roll in shredded coconut/ose powder/ sesame seeds or lightly dust with cinnamon.

  5. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Why This Recipe Builds Ojas

  • Vital Ojas Chai Charm Ghee is made with ghee, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, ginger, and raw honey. These spices are traditional Ayurvedic dipanas—they stoke digestive fire (agni) without overheating the system. Ghee is deeply nourishing to the tissues, and raw honey (in small amounts, and never heated) is a known yogavahi—a carrier that enhances the effect of other herbs.

  • Dates are considered one of the top ojas-building fruits in Ayurveda. Their natural sweetness, softness, and high mineral content make them an ideal food for replenishing energy and calming the nervous system.

  • Almond flour brings grounding, protein-rich support to this recipe, helping rebuild tissue and support hormone balance.

  • Oat flour offers soluble fibre and a gently warming quality that supports digestion and stabilises blood sugar.

When to Enjoy

These bliss balls are ideal:

  • Mid-morning or mid-afternoon for a stable energy boost

  • As part of a grounding postpartum recovery snack

  • During the luteal phase of your cycle when your body needs extra nourishment

  • After a yoga session or breathwork practice to seal in the benefits

  • Any time you’re feeling depleted and need a little extra ojas
